What you have to use today

A printable part on a Mac usually gets made in one of three places. Each has its cost

Cloud CAD tied to a vendor account

You sign in to the vendor, and your projects live in their cloud. The app works for as long as the account and the service do

Engineering suites built for Windows

They can do everything, but on a Mac they need a virtual machine or a second computer. Learning them takes months — far more system than one printable part needs

Simple and mesh editors

Easy to pick up, but a dimension is not a parameter: a shaft fit, a thread pitch or a wall thickness can't be typed in and changed later

Here you get a solid CAD that runs on your Mac with no network and no vendor account, with tools made for printing and a price stated on this page before you download

Made for printing

Tools a general-purpose CAD doesn't have

The part is prepared for the printer, not for a drawing: from overhangs to splitting it for your bed

Printability check

Overhangs and thin walls show up before the slicer does, and narrow bridges don't count as overhangs. The AI agent can suggest which side to lay on the bed

Threads with print clearance

Pitch and clearance are typed in, with a choice of four profiles. The thread stays part of the model and changes with it

Split: part bigger than the bed

Cut the part with a plane or a sketch profile into pieces that fit your bed, with a gap you set between them

Your printer's bed in the scene

Set the work area or pick your printer from the catalogue: the frame sits next to the part and lights up when it doesn't fit

STL export to your slicer

A ready file for any slicer, no converters in between

STEP and STL import

A supplier's part or a downloaded model opens next to yours as a reference to build against

Machine-shop precision

A dimension is a parameter, not a label

Geometry is built on an industrial-grade solid kernel. You type the value instead of nudging it with the mouse: change 6.00 to 6.20 and the part rebuilds.

Driving dimensions

The dimension lies in the sketch plane next to its own edge and is set by typing a number.

Snapping like on a drawing

Centre, midpoint, intersection, tangent, extension. The cursor lands where you mean, without zooming to the pixel.

Solid kernel

Bodies, faces and edges — not triangles. That is where honest chamfers, shells, threads and booleans come from.

No surprises at print time

Overhang and thickness checks before slicing, STL export, STEP import from your supplier.

Native and independent

What happens to your data

First launch

On first launch macOS asks you to confirm an app downloaded from the internet. If a warning appears, open System Settings → Privacy & Security and click “Open Anyway”.

Offline, no vendor account

Modelling needs no network and no vendor account — everything is computed on your Mac. The licence is checked at launch and occasionally in the background; offline the app keeps working in a grace period.

Your files stay yours

Projects sit on your own disk as .3dc files and always open — after the trial, without a subscription. STL export is a subscription feature.

Price stated up front

The subscription price is on this page before you download; you subscribe from inside the app.

Three devices

One subscription covers three Macs — work, home and spare.

What our server receives

For licensing: a device fingerprint, the device name, and your macOS and app versions; the connection's IP address is processed as requests arrive. Card details go to the payment provider and never reach us. No project files and no geometry are sent to our server. Retention is set out in the privacy policy.

AI as an accelerator

The AI agent builds with the same tools you do

This is not a mesh generator that guesses from a picture. The agent calls the same operations — sketch, extrude, cut, chamfer — so the result is an ordinary model with history that you keep editing by hand.

01

Build from a description

“Bracket 80×40, four ⌀5 holes in the corners inset by 8, 3 mm ribs” — then you adjust the dimensions yourself.

02

From a photo of a drawing

Give it a photo or a scan of a drawing: the agent takes the dimensions from it and builds a model with history. You check the dimensions and edit them as numbers

03

Check and correct

Ask for volume, wall thickness or overhangs — the agent measures the model and proposes a fix.

On your key or your own agent subscription — no cloud of ours in between

The built-in agent runs on your own key — Anthropic, OpenAI, DeepSeek, OpenRouter or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint: the app talks to the provider directly and the key lives in the system Keychain. Or connect an agent you already have — opencode, Claude Code, Codex — and it runs on its own subscription, keeping its own credentials. We do not proxy your requests and we do not mark up tokens. Geometry is computed on your Mac; what goes to the provider you choose is the content of the request: the task description, the model's dimensions and parameters, viewport images and any drawing you attach. Their handling is governed by that provider's terms — see the privacy policy for details.

Work first. Pay later

Every feature is open for 14 days — no email, no card. When the trial ends the app does not turn into a pumpkin: the free-core features keep working at no charge with no time limit, in the scope set out in the terms.

FAQ

How is this different from free editors?

This is a solid modeller with driving dimensions: you type a value, change it later, and the part rebuilds. In a polygon model geometry is stored as a triangle mesh, so a hole diameter is usually not a parameter of the model: getting 6.2 instead of 6.0 normally means rebuilding the geometry. How any particular editor handles this is best checked in its own documentation.

What happens to my projects?

Projects are .3dc files on your disk. They always open, with or without a subscription. If Ondekto is ever discontinued, a final version will be released without the licence check.

What happens after the 14 days?

The app keeps working. Sketching, extrude, move and rotate, smart dimensions, the printability check and project files stay available. Subscription features — STL export, STEP import, chamfer, shell, revolve, threads, booleans, patterns, 3D text and the AI agent — are locked until you subscribe. The current scope of the free core is set out in the terms. Your files remain yours and still open.

Do I need an account to try it?

There is nothing to fill in: no sign-up form, no email, no card. On first launch the app creates an anonymous account tied to your device, goes online once and issues the trial. The account key lives in the Keychain and is available in the app's settings — you use it to sign in on your second and third Mac and to restore access after a reinstall.

Does it need an internet connection?

Not for modelling — everything is computed on your Mac. The network is needed once, on first launch, to fetch the trial licence. After that the licence is checked at launch and in the background no more than once a day; offline the app keeps working in a grace period of up to 7 days. Only the AI agent needs the network: it talks to the provider you choose.

Do I need my own key for the AI?

Yes, and that is deliberate. Your own key is stored in the system Keychain and requests go straight to the provider — Anthropic, OpenAI, DeepSeek, OpenRouter or your own OpenAI-compatible endpoint. Alternatively you connect an agent you already have (opencode, Claude Code, Codex), and it keeps its own credentials. You pay no token markup to us and your models never pass through our servers. What does go to the provider you chose is the content of the request: the description, the dimensions and images of the model.

Is there STEP export or drawings?

No drawings: Ondekto is built for printable parts. STEP export isn't available yet. STEP and STL import are.

Can I bring models over from another CAD?

Yes, via STEP or STL: export the part there and open it here. The imported model is a reference to build against: operations don't apply to it directly, and the build history from the other CAD doesn't carry over.

Which Macs are supported?

macOS 15.7 or newer on Apple Silicon. On first launch macOS asks you to confirm an app downloaded from the internet. If a warning appears, open System Settings → Privacy & Security and click “Open Anyway”.

How many Macs can I use it on?

A subscription covers three Macs at once. The trial is issued for a single Mac.

How do I cancel?

From the app, in the licence section, at any time. The subscription renews automatically at the end of each paid period at the price shown; cancelling stops the next charge, and the period you have already paid for runs to its end. After that the app returns to the free core and your projects stay accessible. Refund terms are set out in the terms of service.

Try it on your own part
